Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub and Hair & Body SHine Mist review
I was luckily invited to the Sephora Thailand Spring 19 Press Event, where I got to explore some new launched from brands. And luckily, I got to try two new products from Ouai, the Scalp & Body Scrub and Hair & Body Shine Mist.
First up is the Hair & Body Shine Mist.
I got to try the Hair and Body Shine mist on my body. It gives a pretty shine, but I prefer shimmering body oils over this. But I think it would work on hair, since you can’t rub shimmering oils on hair.
Here’s what it is: “A weightless finishing mist made with bling-worthy diamond powder, Hair & Body Shine Mist lights up your hair and skin with instant mirror-like shine. For use whenever you need a healthy glow, this silky, buildable formula also hydrates and tames frizz with nutrient-rich amaranth oil and squalane. The glow up is real.”
FRAGRANCE: Rose, Bergamot, Lychee, Cedar-wood, and White Musk
Now this is the item I have been waiting for for so long. I wanted it since they teased the promo photos last year. And I was so happy to have received this to try.
Here’s the official description: Relief for Dry, itchy Skin and Scalp. This deep-cleansing, foaming scrub is like a trip to rehab for your scalp and skin. A weekly detox powered by gently exfoliating sugar crystals to cleanse and soften skin and a dose of probiotics to leave your skin’s natural defenses on high alert.
Fragrance: Melrose Place. Rose, Bergamot, Lychee, Cedar-wood, and White Musk.
Key Ingredients
Sugar
Probiotic Blend
Coconut Oil
For use with Hair: Section wet hair to reveal scalp and massage in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Rinse.
For use on skin: Apply to damp skin and massage in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Rinse.
Tip: For deeper cleansing, add a small amount of your favourite Ouai shampoo to the scalp & Body scrub for squeaky Clean Hair.
Here’s how it looks close up:
I have tried using this on my hair. But like other scalp scrubs I’ve used, I failed to get this to reach my scalp. I feel like the scrub flakes reach the inner strings of my hair, but not the scalp directly. I have sectioned my hair as directed, but it doesn’t feel as satisfying as scrubbing my arms or legs. I can’t really feel any difference to my scalp. That being said, I think it helps a tiny bit for my scalp, but I don’t think it made enough difference for me to pay the full rice for it.
There are good things about this scrub though. First, I LOVE the scent. I love all of Ouai products because of the scent. It’s the haircare brand with the best scent ever. Seriously I can’t wait to buy their perfume when its available in Thailand. Here’s another blogpost on my other Ouai hair products, link below.
Second, this scrub does lather up, so I can actually use it as shampoo. I normally wash my hair with shampoo twice (I wash my hair 3 times a week so it does get pretty dirty and one wash isn’t enough). So I use my Lush shampoo on the first wash, and use this scrub on the second wash for deeper cleanse, and also to get the Ouai scent to last on my hair!
Bottom line is, if you can get it to work, its probably a good product. But I just can’t feel like I get enough from it. What do you think? Have you tried it?
