Kjaer weis part 1 cream products: Cream foundation, Radiance Glow, Dazzling GLow
Hey everyone today’s blog will be about this sustainable, minimal Scandinavian brand Kjaer Weis. I’ve been seeing this brand on instagram for a while and I first ordered two products, the Radiance Highlighter and the Dazzling Bronzer. And then last Black Friday happened and I decided to order many more items so I can try them all. And I will now review them here.
First of all, let’s see the brand’s motto:
During her days perfecting faces at countless fashion shows and shoots, Danish-born, New York-based make up artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis noticed that many ‘conventional’ cosmetics irritated models’ skin. It was this that set her on a mission: to create make up products using the finest natural and organic ingredients, which can rival the performance and luxury of their more mainstream counterparts (without the synthetic ingredients). Sublimely (and sustainably) packaged, each Kjaer Weis product is like an opulent collectable; red lacquer, grain-textured cases that resemble jewellery boxes are chosen to house the silver metal compacts, embossed with white enamel ‘KW’ logos. To reduce waste (and save you money over time) all the compacts are designed to be refillable, so you can mix and match colours, or replenish your favourite shade for life.
I also did an unboxing and swatches of my entire haul on youtube here:
OK first up is the Cream Foundation.
Let me say this is my favourite item from the brand yet, and it is also my favourite cream foundation.
Here’s the brand’s description:
As brand founder Kirsten Kjaer Weis succinctly puts it ‘While my foundations have buttery soft moisturising properties, they also feel light as air. The end result is perfect-looking skin.’ Formulated with moisturising and age-defying ingredients, this foundation melts into skin and offers ultimate control – smoothing on a little gives a subtle sheen, while building colour can achieve up to concealer-worthy coverage.
Encased in a shining silver compact, Kjaer Weis Foundation is where flawless, adaptable colour coverage meets moisturising skin care. The buttery soft formula melts into the warmth of the skin, and can be easily adjusted depending on the look you want to achieve – for a subtle, tinted moisturiser-style sheen, just a little is required and this can be built upon to reach concealer levels of coverage, all the while maintaining a velvety, semi-matte finish. Enriched with all natural oils – sweet almond, coconut and jojoba seed, which is rich in fatty acids to promote skin elasticity and reduce signs of ageing – the formula offers effortless moisturisation and anti-ageing. In nine shades – from pinky, fair ‘Lightness’ to rich, gold ‘Delicate’ – there’s something to suit a spectrum of skin tones.
CCPB Certified Organic. Of the agriculturally derived ingredients in this product, a minimum of 95% comes from organic farming.
Because this Foundation is formulated without synthetics, it’s important to apply to a well moisturized face. Pair it with the The Beautiful Oil or your favorite moisturizer for beautiful, buildable coverage. Formulated with skin-care level ingredients, the Foundation is makeup that benefits your skin with every use. Can be applied by hand or with the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush.
I totally agree that you follow what the brand suggest - that is to apply to a moisturized face or mix it with am oil or moisturizer. This is because the foundation itself is quite hard in the pas (not liquidy) and almost feels a bit like a concealer so its a bit hard to spread on bare skin. However if you follow what the brand says, its really easy to blend the foundation. I so my normal morning skincare routine and just follow with this foundation ( I haven’t tried mixing it with anything). I also noticed that the cream is harder in cold weather (aircon room in my case) and is more creamy in hot weather.
And here’s my opinion on it: I effing love it! I love the formula and how it feels and looks on my skin. I don’t use it on my whole face, just the parts that I need to cover up. I swipe on the pan and dab on my skin and use a foundation brush to spread around that area, concentrating on redness on my cheeks and some uneven colors on my forehead. then I just set with setting powder. To be fair if I didn’t live in such a humid place, you don’t even need to set it with powder, it sets beautifully on skin. I am very amazed with this foundation really.
And the fact that it’s refillable just makes it even nicer. Less waste, more durable packaging. That being said, the packaging is VERY heavy so it doesn’t make for travelling at all, which is sad cause I’d love to bring it with me on my vacations. But overall I love it! My new favourite foundation!
For the two “Glow” highlighters, unfortunately I don’t like them as much as I expected. I loved the foundation, but not so much for these. These are quite sheer, and to me, are a bit hard to show up on my skin. I don’t think they can be used in combination with a setting powder (which I need to use in this kind of climate) . The texture also feels “sticky”, I don’t know if it was supposed to be like this but maybe it was because of the hot climate? But the cream feels sticky and I just don’t think I can wear something this sticky on my face.
On my fingers, they look nice, but just aren’t practical for humid weather.
Also I noticed that as time passed they develop a rancid smell - prolly cause they’,ve expired. For me I will never finish them before they expire so its not worth it for me. For those of you who want to buy these, make sure you use them up pretty quick.
So that is it for part 1. Link to Part 2 is below:
