Starskin Orglamic: Pink Cactus Pudding and the Serum Mist
So I was invited to the Sephora Thailand Spring19 Press Event and got to see some new launches from various brands. This post will be about new skincare from Starskin.
But before we go on, I have to say I’m really grateful to be invited as I’m not a professional blogger nor a good makeup artist. I’m really appreciative for this opportunity.
So Starkin came out with 3 products for their Orglamic range. The Serum Mist, The Pink Cactus Pudding, and the Pink Cactus Glass Sheet Mask.
First up is the Serum Mist.
Here’s the brand’s description:
A next-generation dual-phase serum mist that combines precious Prickly Pear Cactus, Baobab and Camellia Japonica seed oils with an ultra-hydrating blend of Cactus liquid concentrate to deeply infuse the skin with a shot of hydration and superfoods to prep the skin and multiply the moisturising and illuminating effects of your skincare routine.
This serum deeply infuses the skin with highly nutritive and restorative actives and multiplies the moisturising and illuminating effects of your skincare routine. Apply over makeup to set and add glow and spritz any time of the day when you need a hydration shot or radiance boost.
Fee from Parabens, Phthalate, Sulfate, Gluten, Mineral Oil and Acetone
Cruelty-free
Use to set makeup and add glow or as a hydration and radiance boost anytime.
Spray on freshly cleansed face and neck every morning and night before moisturiser.
For best results, follow with Pink Cactus Pudding™ to multiply the hydrating effects.
I really like serum mists in general, and so of course I loved it. I’ve already gone through 2 bottles of the Skin Inc Serum Mist, and I’m really excited to add this to my collection. Will definitely buy it when Sephora is on sale (I’m broke!). The serum mist separates into 2 layers when left to set, with the top layer being the Prickly Pear Cactus, Baobab and Camellia Japonica seed oils. I really like how it really does have a serum in it you know?
The spray head sprits out the spray very evenly (I hate it if the spray comes out in chunks). So yes I really like this spray.
And next is one of the two items I received from the press event, the Orglamic™ Pink Cactus Pudding
I have to say I was thrilled to receive the pudding. Out of all the three items, this was the one I wanted to try the most. I mean, the name itself is already interesting, “pudding”. I just wanna slap pudding all over my face haha.
Second, I really like the packaging. OK I know the packaging doesn’t affect the benefits of the skincare, but cute packaging really helps you know? Glassy Pink tub of cuteness.
Finally, I like the scent. It’s not a strong scent, barely noticeable. It’s really hard to describe the scent, but its a bit fruity and sweet.
Here’s the brand’s official description:
A luscious, silky-soft pudding concentrate of highly nutritive Prickly Pear Cactus Seed Oil, thirst-quenching Cactus extracts and smoothening Hyaluronic Acid for an addictive, long-lasting glow.
This concentrate has a cool, velvety texture and is easily absorbed into the skin to quickly replenish moisture. Apply before makeup for that perfect canvas or use as a day and night cream for softer, smoother and suppler skin.
Free from Parabens, Phthalate, Sulfate, Gluten, Mineral Oil and Acetone
Cruelty-free
To multiply the hydrating effects, use after Pink Cactus Serum Mist.
Apply evenly on freshly cleansed face and neck every morning and night.
Works well under makeup.
The texture is exactly like the name, like a pudding. At first I thought it might feel like yogurt, but its much thicker than yogurt. it’s really like pudding. Like you can literally scoop it out.
And the pudding scoop still stays in shape on my arm haha. But don’t be afraid, it’s really easy to spread out.
Turns out its really soft and bouncy when I spread it. Once it sets, it kind of forms a film on my skin. I mean there are some creams I feel like is absorbed into my skin, but this feels like a protective shield that stays on my skin without being absorbed.
I have been trying this for several nights, and here’s my conclusion: its not for me. Not sure why, but I feel like I have a reaction to it. At first I thought it was something else, but I noticed it on my second and third uses as well. My face tingles (which does not feel like when I put AHA on). And it makes my face feel comfortable. So I have stopped using it after 3 uses.
This is just me, but I suggest you ask for a tester before buying it.
I’m so sad the item I wanted the most didn’t work it TT
And lastly, the Pink Cactus Oil Mask. This turns out to be my favourite item from the collection.
Here’s the brand’s description:
Glam Gone Good! Now, for the first time, you can have the best of both worlds: glamour and organic.
An advanced, 100% organic 2-step oil sheet face mask that combines ultra-nourishing super seed oils with a cactus-drenched sheet mask to leave skin incredibly soft and smooth. Reveal a healthy, dewy glow with this revolutionary oil sheet mask that deeply hydrates and infuses the skin with super antioxidants for well-hydrated, visibly firmer and truly radiant results. Skin is softer, smoother and suppler.
Highly innovative two-step oil sheet mask treatment.
100% natural, non-water based formula packed with 84% Cactus extracts and organic, high-performance skin superfoods.
100% Natural skincare supercharged with organic and high-performance skin superfoods and a luxurious sensorial texture that's easily absorbed by the skin.
There are two parts to this mask.
Step 1 is an oil capsule of highly nutritive blend of Prickly Pear Cactus & Camellia Japonica seed oils to hydrate and nourish dry and parched skin, and restore a softer and smoother complexion.
Cleanse face and pat dry. Tear to separate Step 1 oil capsule.
Break open capsule and massage 3 – 4 drops on face.
So you tear out the corner with the Prickly Pear Oil and massage a few drops onto your face. The oil provided is much more than “a few drops”, so I used only half.
The oil is a little pinkish and doesn’t have a weird smell, which is good.
So I massage this oil onto my skin, before I put on the sheet mask.
Step 2 is a Cactus-drenched sheet mask, infused with anti-aging Hyaluronic Acid and smoothing Alpha-Bisabolol work to revitalize the skin, restore its natural balance and deliver a youthful glow. A dream for dry and dehydrated skin!
Formulated without the use of parabens, silicones and harsh preservatives.
Use regularly to replenish dry, dull and lackluster skin, enhance skin barrier protection and achieve a lasting glow.
Tear open Step 2 sachet. Remove protective layer and discard.
Apply mask on face and remove after 15 min. Do not rinse.
Gently pat in remaining serum. If desired, finish with extra oil for ultra-nourishment.
If desired, lock in serum with Pink Cactus Pudding™ or your regular moisturizer.
Step 2 is pretty much putting on the face mask like a normal mask.
I really like the feel of the sheet. It’s actually made from cloth, so its much softer than other less expensive sheet masks that are made from paper.
And what do I think about it? I absolutely love it! I think its genius to combine the oil with the face mask. I usually hate face oils (I don’t like oily stuff on my face. My skin alone is oily enough). But I know oils are great for your skin so I try to use them, even if I feel a little disgusted. Now this mask helps me use face oil in a way that isn’t greasy at all! I don’t even feel like I have face oil at all. It’s like using another sheet mask.
After I remove it, my skin feels great. I know the instructions say no need to rinse, but I rinse anyway because the oil feels too greasy to leave on my face.
I really like this oil+ sheet mask idea. However, the price is quite expensive, and it will probably be left for specially occasions only, or during the sale.
