Contour cosmetics collection reviews and swatches
Hello everyone, today I’m gonna introduce you to a new brand I’ve recently discovered, Contour cosmetics. I first saw this brand on Instagram, and the product that caught my eye was their Contour Rocks. Yes. Contour rocks. Literally rocks. If you still can’t imagine what I’m talking about, think Guerlain Meteorites, but in brown, and shaped like pebbles. Its just so imaginative,, that I couldn’t sit still and had to get myself one. And the whole collection came.
So first up, the highlight! The Contouring Rocks! These are divine! Just playing with them is so much fun. I wouldn’t wear these on a daily basis, as they’re quite shimmery, but I’m sooo looking forward to wearing them during the summer! It gives my skin a subtle warm glow, with some shimmer. And playing with the rocks are just so much fun!
Below are the swatches (top-most one)
Second up is the Spotlight palette, the ultimate Illuminating Set. This palette contains 3 powder highlighter shades in pearl shimmer, champagne, and Rose Gold. I absolutely love all three shade. They’re right up my alley. You can see the swatches in the photo above. I also think this is a very travel-friendly palette!
Third are the Lip Contour Kits! One kit includes one creamy lip liner, and one matte liquid lipstick in matching shades. I got 4 kits to show you, Vegas, Juju, Rio, and Stud.
Vegas is a classic red, just flat out gorgeous. This color will suit everyone.
Juju is my favourite out of the bunch, as it’s a pink that doesn’t wash me out. I’ve been wearing this shade to the office quite often last week, and it gives me that natural youthful look.
Rio is a nude color, perfect for nude-look days.
Stud is a muted brick red. It’s in between brown and red, but muted enough to wear on an everyday basis.
Formula-wise, I think it leans on the sheerer side, but can be layered for a more opaque coverage. What I like about is how light it feels once on my lips. I barely noticed I was wearing lipstick at all!
Though, I will have to suggest not touching your lips until the formula has dried completely. It lasted virtually all day, it was still there when I brushed my teeth in the evening!
Next, the core product of the brand. You can’t have a brand called Contour without contouring kits right? Here’s the Multi-Use Contouring Set. There are 6 creamy shades for highlighting, concealing, and contouring. I’m not sure if it can be used as a concealer, but it kinda works with my under eyes. Works perfect as a “highlighter”, as is, to lighten the high points of my face. My regret was the two darkest shades that were too orange, making me look muddy, but it’s OK once I dust setting powder over it.
I’m normally not a fan of cream products (I live in Thailand where everything creamy melts in the sun), but this kit is one exception, I love the light shades!
The company must have had great success with this one, that they’ve also launched a sister palette, the Contour Set 2, featuring a different set of shades, to suit my skin types. I also got them here. To my surprise, I actually like this palette more than the original, since it leans less orange. So there’s definitely a palette that’ll suit you.
Next is the Spray All Day setting spray. I haven’t tried too many setting sprays (only the Urban Decay Deslick, The Toofaced Peach mist, and a few local brands), so I think this is a decent one. Nothing wow-ing, but good. It doesn’t have the weird smell Deslick has, which I’m grateful for.
And finally, The Base, by Contour cosmetics, their stay all day mattifying primer. This is a clear primer with some silicone, but not as much as some other brands Ive tried. I think it’s a good amount, as I personally don’t like too much silicones. This one does a decent job as a primer, but nowhere as mattifying as the Fenty Beauty primer (that one was super mate and stayed all day).
Overall, I think what Contour cosmetics does best is, obviously, Contouring products! Also their lip products are nice as well. Hope you find this review useful!
