Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ deep sea collagen super serum, Rainforest of the Sea™ quench hydrating primer review + tarteist™ PRO glow & blush swatches
So this blog will be about my Tarte goodies, including 2 skincare items! let’s start with the Deep Sea Collagen Super Serum.
Starting with the Rainforest of the Sea™ deep sea collagen super serum
Brand’s description:
Who doesn’t love a good cocktail? This vegan collagen, bi-phase oil + essence delivers powerful antioxidant benefits to promote plumper & brighter looking skin. Cheers to that!
bi-phase cocktail of marine based collagen, marine plant extracts & nourishing oils
essence phase delivers marine based collagen & antioxidant-rich protection
oil phase nourishes & hydrates skin with a blend of 8 oils
delivers powerful antioxidant benefits to keep skin looking fresh, supple & radiant
we prefer this formula shaken, not stirred for a concentrated dose of hydration
Shake well to combine the two layers & apply to clean skin.
Have oily or combo skin? Can use this to replace your serum & moisturizer.
Have dry or normal skin? Layer this under your moisturizer.
Ingredients":
vegan marine plant collagen: works to hydrate skin & make it appear firmer
marine plant extracts: smooth & soften the appearance of fine lines
argan oil: lightweight, nourishing oil full of powerful antioxidants & fatty acids
sodium hyaluronate: delivers moisture, firmness & suppleness
This serum is a bi-phase formula with a watery feel plus a bit of oily feel. The essence is very light, so its great for oily skin or people looking for something that dries quickly. The oil part gives it a bit of extra benefit. It has no obvious scent, which is good.
Once applied, I can feel the oil part, but overall it’s very light on my skin. It’s non-greasy and absorbed quickly. However, when I’m looking for something light to put on my face, I usually prefer a pure serum or essence and not something with oil in it. If I want to use a face oil. I just go with a pure facial oil. So to me, this bi-phase formula don’t really work for me.
However, I think this will speak to those who want to use a bit of face oil but wants it to remain light.
If you want to see swatches of the Seaglass eyeshadows and the Pro Remix Amazonian Eyeshadow Palette, I also have them here in the below blog.
Next, the Rainforest of the Sea™ quench hydrating primer.
OK let’s start with the brand’s description:
Let’s be honest, we’re all a little lazy with our morning skincare… so get you a primer that does both! This vegan, hydrating primer is packed with hyaluronic acid & antioxidant-rich marine plant extracts (& a delicious coconut scent!) to instantly prep skin & extend the length of wear of your foundation, all while hydrating your skin for 12 hours.
Cooling gel formula is absorbed immediately (with no sticky residue) to refresh & hydrate your skin
Extends the length of wear of your foundation
Helps smooth the appearance of fine lines with hyaluronic acid
Provides pollution defense with antioxidant-rich marine plant extracts
Delivers antioxidants, probiotics & amino acids
Smooth a pea-sized amount over clean, dry skin before applying makeup.
Ingredients:
marine plant extracts: help reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles while smoothing & softening skin
hyaluronic acid: naturally-occurring ingredient in the human body which delivers moisture, firmness & suppleness
kefir extract: a powerful source of amino acids that acts as an antioxidant to help brighten & moisturize skin
So is a clear primer that upon application feels like a gel cream, but dries down to a smooth surface. To be honest, I do not feel anything special about this product. I’d rather just use a gel cream, or another primer. However for those wanting a basic clear primer with hydrating benefits, this might be for you.
Overall, I’m not overly impressed with these two skincare items from Tarte. I think they are better at making makeup.
And lastly, the Tartiest Pro Glow & Blush Palette! OK to be honest I wasn’t entirely interested in this palette when it launched, but upon swatching I knew that I had missed out big time. They are just so nice and versatile.
Here’s what Tarte says about this palette:
Mic cheek, one two. Turn up the cheek volume with this luminous powder cheek wardrobe filled with four blushes, one highlighter & one bronzer made to mix, freestyle & create your own custom shades. This palette includes six FULL-SIZE shades!
six full-size cheek shades
includes four blushes, one highlighter & one bronzer: hi-fi, solo, electric, beat, tempo, amp
formulated with Amazonian clay for streak & fade-free wear
Smile to find the apples of your cheeks. Using a blush brush, fan each shade in the shape of a check mark & blend.
Like the description says, this palette has 6 shades. One highlighter and bronzer each, and four GORGEOUS blush shades. And all are so perfect for summer! I don’t think I need to say much. I’ll let the swatches speak for themselves.
Below are closeups of the three shades on the left side.
I am really surprised by the bottom left shade. I have to say this is quite a unique shade in my collection, and for it to be included in a blush palette is great. You don’t wanna have too many dupable shades. The top left highlight shade is a champagne - not uncommon, and the middle left shade reminds me of Nars Deep Throat. So if you don’t have those, this palette is for you.
OK more closeups of each shade. Top left, middle left, bottom left.
Seriously that bottom left shade is so perfect for summer.
OK and the right side! The top right shade is supposed to be a bronzer, but I think its too light to be a bronzer for medium-dark skintones. Maybe it’ll work is a glow powder. But for light skinned giels, this shade is a dream! I love bronzers that are glowy, and this shade is glowy. Not dull at all.
I think the middle right shade is also pretty for fair-light skintones, and the bottom right shade reminds me of Nars Orgasm. I feel like if you don’t already have those, then this palette is a good inclusion into your collection.
And the swatches!
And that is it! I hope you find this blog helpful :)
