Jo Malone Wild Flowers & Weeds collection: Amber & Patchouli and Willow & Amber

So I went shopping the other day, with no shopping list in my mind when I walked past the Jo Malone shop and had to take a back step. THERE WAS A NEW COLLECTION. Limited edition. And it’s called Wild Flowers & Weeds. I mean come on, Jo’s limited scents are such collectables, and I love woody notes to begin with so I just HAD to pop in and take a whiff.

There are 5 scents in total. Nettle & Wild Archillea, Hemlock & Bergamot, Cade & Cedarwood, Willow & Amber, and Lupin & Patchouli.

A new limited edition collection. Five unexpected scents, inspired by the unruly weeds and wildly-wonderful plants and flowers that line the banks of a winding river.

The store decoration was also gorgeous! I think this is one of the best designs Jo Malone came out with. The pattern on the bottles are also super unique and classy. There are also gift boxes in blue, green, and black with matching patterns with the bottles. If you buy 2 bottles, you can get a box in the colour of your choice (this is where I live, not sure if this promotion is the same worldwide).

So of course I had to buy 2 bottles. I tried all five, and went for a walk. I actually LOVE all the scents, but I told myself I can only buy 2. Buying all would be quite pricey (these limited edition scents are priced higher than permanent scents). And I ended up choosing Amber & Patchouli and Willow & Amber.

So first up is Willow & Amber.

Here’s the description from the Jo Malone website: The expressive weeping willow, gently draping across the fresh morning water. Captured in the woody pairing of cashmere wood and smoky vetiver, enhanced by softly sensual amber.
This Cologne is presented in a decorative bottle, printed with images of hand-painted illustrations.

Top notes: Pink Pepper. The freshness of this cold spice brings lively effervescence to the scent.

Heart Note: Willow. Captured and analysed using headspace technology, its elegant leaves draped into flowing water bring a soft clear woody note.

Basenote: Amber. A note that wraps the fragrance with woody warmth, imbuing the fragrance with sensuality.

This scent is quite fruity compared to the other four in my opinion, but still has the woody vetiver and willow infused. I’m terrible at describing fragrances by the way, so I think you should try them out yourself (or check the Jo Malone or Fragrantica websites).

OK next is Lupin & Patchouli

Here’s the description from the Jo Malone website: Reminiscent of canal banks, awash with colour. A rainbow of lupin flowers, enriched by luxurious rose and deepened with rebellious patchouli. A surprising contrast with the fresh vibrancy of mandarin.
This Cologne is presented in a decorative bottle, printed with images of hand-painted illustrations.

Top note: Lupin. The expressive weeping willow, gently draping across the fresh morning water. Captured in the woody pairing of cashmere wood and smoky vetiver, enhanced by softly sensual amber.

Heartnote: Rose. As the fragrance unfurls, this opulent floral, with its spicy, honey facets wraps the lupin with suptuous texture.

Basenote: Patchouli. A sensuously deep woody note that complements the patchouli in the heart and enhances the longevity of the fragrance

I’m a Patchouli fanatic to begin with, so I knew I would love this scent. And it did not disappoint! The Lupin and Rose helped make the Patchouli less heavy, and so this scent came out quite soft and easy to wear.

And of course because I bought 2 bottles, I get a free box! I chose green because it goes really well with the design of the bottles, and its bright and colourful. My colleague who bought 3 bottles (yes she’s even a bigger Jo Malone fanatic than I am) also chose the green box. I think green will be gone first, followed by black. So hurry guys!
