Toofaced Life’s a Festival Collection review and swatches
CALLING ALL UNICORNS!
Toofaced has just released the cutest collection ever! And mermaids and unicorns freaks like me are surely gonna fall heads over heels in love with it!
Introducing, the Life’s a Festival collection from Toofaced. This collection is packaged in blueish periwinkle holographic colors, just for us unicorns. It consists of an eyeshadow palette, lip toppers, lipsticks, stick and powder highlighter, a bronzer, and a refreshing face mist. Have I missed anything? I hope not.
Well I picked up most of the items apart from the eyeshadow palette which is super cute, but the colors of the shadows weren’t up my alley. However I totally you unicorns check it out. The package is a rainbow and contains mythical shades.
OK so what did I get?
Let’s start off with the La Crème Mystical Effects Lipsticks. There are 4 shades but I picked up 3. Angel Tears, Unicorn Tears, and Fairy Tears.
These are the La Crème formula but instead of creamy color, are mostly glittery instead.
Fairy Tears looks yellow in the bullet, but is actually pink with pink shimmers. This one was the best out of all the shades, because the others are really bad.
Heres how it looks on my bare lips. It's kinda OK
Unicorn Tears is the highlight of the collection. It’s a blue-ish base with purplish/green shimmers, the perfect unicorn color! It looks amazing in the arm swatch, but looks terrible on my lips. The glitters are chunky and piled up on my lips. I could not spread it out evenly on my lips at all. I think I need to adapt this as a glitter topper.
Angel Tears leans gold with champagne shimmers. This also failed miserably on my lips. I could not get an even application whatsoever. The glitters piled up and looked terrible.
The swatches look good though. Heres a swatch in the sun.
And here's a swatch in the shade.
Therefore, I think these would do well as lip toppers over other lipsticks, rather than to be worn alone. Unless you want just chucks of glitters on your lips, I suggest you layer it over another lipstick. (or just don’t buy them at all).
Next, the Unicorn Horn Mythical Effects Highlighting Stick. There are two shades, but I picked up one, Unicorn Dreams (the other shade is a holographic blue which I don’t think I can wear very often).
This is just another highlighting stick in super cute packaging. I’m really impressed with how they designed it as a unicorn horn, I mean, why hasn’t anyone thought of that before this? It’s cute and perfect! But apart from the packaging, I think this is another stick highlighter without the wow factor. I’m not saying it’s a bad product, I’m just saying you’re not missing out on anything if you don’t get this.
The color looks salmon pink in the stick, but one applied actually looks rose gold. Ok it leans more gold than rose, more like golden champagne. This would look great on top of cheekbones in the summer. I’m really looking forward to using this!
Next, the Magic Crystal Mystical Effects Lip Topper. I only bought one shade of this, the main item of the collection, Unicorn Tears. This is a bluish bade gloss with multicolor fine shimmers that leans purplish making it look periwinkle. OK I think I did a terrible job of describing the color, so I suggest you just scroll down to see the swatches.
But first, here's a closeup in the shade.
And a close up in the sun.

OK Next, an item I’m most curious about. The Festival Refresh Mystical Effects Setting and Refreshing Spray. At first I thought it was a setting spray, but apparently you can use it to refresh your skin. From my experience, I tend to find pure setting sprays are able to keep my makeup on longer. Whereas, refreshing sprays don’t. I believe this one falls under the refreshing category, as I see no difference in ma makeup longevity since I’ve tried using it. It also has a cooling effect, nothing to be concerned about. It kinda feels like those cooling sunscreens with menthol. I think this is good for a refreshment. It also contains very fine holographic pearls. See it?
This actually can be visible when I sprayed it onto my arm. After it dries, my arms have that pearlish sheen when looked at under the sunlight. However, I can’t see them at all when I sprayed it onto my face. So it’s just a gimmick. Overall, It’s a cute refreshing spray for unicorns.
Just one quick suggestion, I warn that you hold the bottle quite far from your face when you spray, cause the sprayer it quite concentrated. The first time I used this, all of it ended up on my nose.
Next, my favourite out of the whole collection, the Rainbow Strobe Rainbow Effect Highlighter. This doesn’t look like an everyday item at all does it? Turns out it is! In the pan the shades may look bold and super unicorn-y, but I was surprised when I swatched it.
The shades are quite subtle and wearable. I love how it shimmers in the sun. I took a gazillion photos of my arm cause I love the swatch so much lol. I think you can actually use these shade individually depending on the look you want. Or if swirled it should give a blended shimmery glow. I just love it. It’s a must have for unicorns.
And lastly, the item I wanted the most! The Unicorn Tears Iridescent Mystical Bronzer. It’s a bronzer with a unicorn highlighter all in one! Seriously I doubt how this can be used together. How can the white go with the brown???
OK I tried swatching each shade, and then blending them together. I think they are better used separately. I LOVE the bronzer shade. I’m a fan of shimmer bronzers, and this one is just stunning. It’s almost a shimmery as some eyeshadow actually. But I love the glow it gives to my cheeks.
The pink-ish highlighter is similar to the blue in the Rainbow Highlighter, but with larger sparkles. If you layer them together, the blue will disappear, leaving just that holographic vibes. But who wants holographic shifts on their contour I wonder?
So that’s it Unicorns! I hope you found this review helpful. My recommendation: buy the highlighter and bronzer, that’s it. I haven’t tried the eyeshadow palette so maybe check that out. The rest are lacking quality.
