Louboutin Beauty: Lipsticks and Nail Polishes that can be used as weapons

Louboutin Beauty

Hello everyone. Today’s blog will be about my most expensive pieces of make up - Louboutin Beauty. They’re mostly inspired by the stilettos, as you can see from the pointy packaging. I think these are more like pieces of jewelry rather than makeup items. One costs a fortune and you’re supposed to show them off!

IMG_3744.JPG

I first bought them from Sephora US and a friend carried them back for me. But recently I got to visit Dubai and there was a Louboutin Beauty counter there.

Below is the display. Glorious isn’t it?

First up are the lip products! These are housed in gorgeous golden packaging. The cap has a ribbon attached so that you can wear them as a necklace! I have yet to do so though, it’s just too bulky to be a necklace for me.

There are 3 formulas: Velvet Matte, Silky Satin and Sheer Voile. I only have the Velvet Matte and the Silky Satin because I didn’t think I would wanna pay $90 for a sheer lipstick.

I own 3 matte shades in Just Nothing, Rococotte, and Rouge Louboutin (black packaging). All of the classic red shades named Rouge Louboutin are in black packaging, just to emphasise how iconic they are.

First up is the Velvet Matte formula

Here’s the description from the official website.

Inspiration :

Velvet Matte Lip Colour, an opulent colour and soft touch feel, with non-drying comfort.

For Christian Louboutin, a designer and creator of rare objects, lipstick is a woman’s magic wand. No longer tucked away between the key ring and the nail file, the Louboutin Lip colour transforms a forgotten object into a treasured jewel.

Inspired by Middle Eastern antiquities and the Art Deco movement, the solid metal body is reminiscent of a precious vial. The turret-like crown cap is topped with a small ring threaded with a silk ribbon, turning the lip colour into a necklace.

Product Description :

  • Features an intensely rich pigment blend for velvet matte colour with a soft touch finish.

  • Applies with smooth precision and full coverage in one stroke.

  • Protects effectively against dryness thanks to a complex of natural oils and seed butters.

  • Lasts with comfort and excellent appearance without feathering for up to 4 hours.

  • Presented in a re-usable black lacquer carton jewelry box including a silk ribbon and a silk carrying pouch.

I think the description is quite accurate. The matte is on of the best formulas I’ve used. It does not dry out my lips and really does apply with a soft touch finish. I think the longevity is pretty close to the 4 hour claim.

I own 3 matte shades in Just Nothing, Rococotte, and Rouge Louboutin (black packaging).

Below are individual photos of each shade that I own.

Louboutin Silky Satin Lip Colour Tutulle.

Louboutin Silky Satin Lip Colour Tutulle.

Last in my collection, the Louboutin Silky Satin Lip color in shade Tutulle! This is my first and only Louboutin lipstick in the satin finish. The satin finish is divine, and I love the shade, however this is definitely a collector’s item. You can definitely fins a satin lipstick like this one elsewhere. But for lipstick freaks like myself, this is such a prized procession.

Below is the official description:

Silky Satin Lip Colour, the perfect alliance of luxurious colour, sensuous feel and superior wear.

  • Glides on lips with an opulent and sensual feel. Sets with a silky satin finish and soft shine.

  • Applies medium to full coverage in one stroke.

  • Features a unique blend of ultra-fine pigments for deep and generous colour.

  • Protects effectively against dryness thanks to a complex of natural oils and seed butters.

  • Lasts with comfort and excellent appearance without feathering for up to 4 hours.

  • Presented in a re-usable black lacquer carton jewelry box including a silk ribbon and a silk carrying pouch

I think the satin formula is good, on the level of other high end cosmetics. However, I don’t think it’s worth paying $90 for one of these when there other phenomenal cream formulas like Tom Ford which you get get for almost half the price.

Overall, I think if you wanna pamper yourself with a Louboutin lipstick, it should be in the matte formula.

Loubilaque Lip Laquer in Altereva and Rouge Louboutin.

Loubilaque Lip Laquer in Altereva and Rouge Louboutin.

Next is the Loubilaque Lip Laquer

I’ll just get down to the official description:

Christian Louboutin’s latest beauty creation draws inspiration from his longstanding love affair with lacquer. For his designs, he has often turned to the most brilliant of leathers, patent, to create iconic accessories with the shiniest of finishes. Now, for the first time, this inspiration enters the world of lip colour with Loubilaque. High coverage, high shine, and high drama!

Loubilaque is Christian Louboutin’s most dramatic and transformative formula to date. With its attention-commanding shine, Loubilaque appears to magnify the colour on lips. Bold. Sexy. Arresting.

In keeping with Christian’s vision of beauty as objet d’art, the bottle is designed with thick clear walls carved with an intricate mermaid tail pattern to encapsulate the opulent colour like an elixir. Mounted with a small ring threaded with a silk ribbon, the vial can be worn as a pendant. This treasure is enclosed with a turret-like crown reminiscent of the ornate aesthetics of Middle Eastern antiquities and the Art Deco movement. Rouge Louboutin is distinctively topped in a silver and gold cap while all other shades are enclosed by gold caps.

Product Description :

  • Formulated with advanced pigment technology, Loubilaque delivers a patent-leather shine and full-bodied, true colour in just one coat.

  • Non-sticky and exceptionally comfortable on lips imparting highly dimensional shine and long-lasting colour.

  • Special ingredients improve hydration and reduce furrows on lips, for optimal cushion and comfort.

  • Specially designed doe-foot applicator for sensual pleasure with a highly precise and effortless application.

  • Teardrop shape applicator combines both a flat surface for optimal dispersion and pointed shape to allow precision of contour.

  • Presented in a re-usable black lacquer carton jewelry box including a silk ribbon.

I think the description got it quite right. It claims true colour in just one coat, which I think is quite accurate. However I have to point out that I have tried other more pigmented glosses. This is not the most pigmented one I’ve tried. The “dimensional” shine is not as shiny as Mac Lipglass (which I think is the shiniest of them all).

One thing that bugs me is the scent. It’s got this old-fashioned lipstick smell to it which kinda turns me off. I don’t know if its just me but I think you should try this in store rather than buy online.

Overall it’s a good gloss, still not worth $90 and considering the expiration date of lipgloss, it’ll be such a waste if you don’t get to use it much.

The two shades i own are Altereva and Rougt Louboutin (this is the classic shade and is thus housed in a silver cap).

Louboutin Nail Polish

Louboutin Nail Polish

OK next moving on to the nail polish!

All my full sized Louboutin nail polishes! These represent the iconic shoes! I bought these during the VIB Rouge sale as I couldn’t justify paying for the insane price in full. The packaging is out of this world gorgeous! If you carry around one of these in your pocket theres no worry of being robbed. This is pretty much a weapon lol

My mom was so curious at these and asked why they made a nail polish like this and I’m like mom you don’t know Louboutin.

Formula wise, this is just another nail polish in epic packaging. The brand claims this is like 20 layers of lacquer, but nah it’s not that special. I suggest buying sth else if you want real performance. But if you want a dangerous decoration, then I guess one wouldn’t hurt.
