Byredo Makeup Colour sticks Review & Swatches
Hello! This will be my first post on Byredo makeup! As some of you may know, I’m a huge fragrance addict and so when Byredo came out with makeup, I just had to try some.
I ordered their Colour sticks, Lipsticks, and eyeshadow palettes. At first I wanted the lip balm as well but it was sold out (later I heard many people don’t like it so lucky me).
This post will be on the Colour sticks.
Brand’s description: The universal product. A multi-use stick to be used all over the face. Buildable coverage that is easy to apply and combine with other BYREDO COLOUR STICKS to contrast or enhance. Housed in silver metal, the slim stick with curved bullet tip is designed to be used easily, quickly and instinctively while eschewing ultra-perfection; the intense colour is blendable with fingers or brush. The Colour Stick comes in finishes aligned to corresponding shades, encompassing lightweight dewy, matte and creamy textures suitable for cheeks, eyes and lips.
I bought 3 shades with different textures.
Flower Play - A very transparent, delicate pink. A dewy-cream stick for a healthy glossy touch on eyes, lips or cheeks.
Great Sands - A nude-brown with shimmers. A dewy-cream stick to highlight the eyes, lips or cheeks.
Babi - A gentle coral. A dry-cream stick to blush or radiate the eyes, lips or cheeks.
Below are the swatches:
Great Sands is sheer with shimmers - like a lip balm. Personally I wouldn’t use this on my eyes or cheeks since I don’t like greasy stuff on my skin. As a lip shine, Great Sands don’t really show up on my lips at all and the shimmers aren’t that obvious either. To be honest I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with this shade.
Babi is a matte coral. I can use this on my eyes, cheeks, and lips. To me, they work OK as a cream blush (but I think the formula is too hard to be a cream blush). They work OK as an eyeshadow but still not as good as real eyeshadow. They work OK on my lips, but they feel very dry and don’t make my lips look healthy at all. Bottom line is this shade can be used on all parts of my face, but I don’t like it on any part of my face. I salute multi tasking part, but I wouldn’t use this. I just don’t like it.
Flower Play is a sheer pink with fine shimmers that aren’t obvious. This is best used on my lips as a sheer lipstick because to me, they are too sheer to be used on cheeks and eyes. And now that I can only use this on my lips, I will have to compare this shade against other sheer lipsticks. Well, after comparison I prefer other brand of sheer lipsticks way much more than Flower Play.
All 3 shades have a chemical-y smell which I don’t like. Overall, I don’t like these Colour Sticks. They aren’t that multi tasking ( I can’t use the sheer formula on any parts of my face other than my lips) and I like them less once compared to other brand’s products.
