Eve lom Review: Cleansing Balm, Morning Time Cleanser, Rescue Mask, Time Retreat Essence, Brightening Lotion

Hellp there this blog will be all about my Eve Lom skincare and cleansing products. It all started out with the original cleansing balm and then expanded from there. However, I have come to realize that the only thing I love from this brand is the cleansing balm. Read on to see why.

First up is the product that got my hooked into Eve Lom in the first place. The original cleansing balm that started it all. Eve Lom the Original Balm Cleanser

Actives:

Clove Oil (has antiseptic properties to encourage clear skin),

Eucalyptus Oil (helps drain away toxins), Hops Oil (tones),

Egyptian Chamomile Oil (softens and soothes),

Cocoa Butter (conditions)

This was my first ever cleansing balm. Before this, I was never interested in cleansing balms since I was already satisfied with using cleansing oil and following with a gel cleanser for double cleanse.

But I received this as a mini size sample and when I used it I was so amazed at how soft my skin feels. It only took one round of cleansing and all my makeup is removed and it even feels as if I used some kind of skincare. My skin felt super soft after I finished cleansing. It was amazing.

From then on, I have also tried many other cleansing balms, and they did their job well of removing the makeup but none of them made my skin feel this soft afterwards. In my opinion, this is still the best cleansing balm I have ever tried, and it’s worth the hefty price.

Next is the Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser. Since I liked the original cleansing balm, I decided to try the morning time cleanser as well.

I feel like this is similar to the original balm, but just in a tube format. It feels good to use this in the morning, but since there’s no makeup to remove I feel like in the morning you can basically use any cleanser or even soap to wash your face. So this isn’t a must have. If you buy one item from Eve Lom, I will still always say the original cleansing balm.

Next is the Eve Lom Rescue Mask

Actives:

Kaolin Clay (absorbs excess oils and reduces puffiness),

OK I got this mask in a set (the set included a small cleansing balm and the rescue mask). I thought it was a good deal so I bought it. Oh my am I so wring. I should have tried this mask in a sample or mini size first before buying this huge tub. Because I hate it so bad.

First of all, the scent is hideous. It reminded me of my mom’s old ointment that is used to treat mosquito bites. It must be the Camphor in the ingredients. Maybe people from the west might like this product, but I’m sure Asian people will say this smells like a traditional medicine.

Second, it burns my skin when I put it on. Again, I think it is the Camphor which is supposed to “cool and decongest” butI guess my skin doesn’t love it.

So basically please try a sample before ordering this because you could hate it like me as well.

Next are two essences that I ordered during the Space NK sale. I got curious with Eve Lom skincare and decided I want to try some. Now I know why they were on sale.

Eve Lom Time Retreat Radiance Essence, Brightening Serum

First up is the Eve Lom Time Retreat Radiance Essence

Brand’s description: An effortless, essential step to reveal skin’s optimal radiance through the power of nine hyper-active, anti-ageing ingredients for visibly radiant, smooth and hydrated skin.

Liposome Encapsulated Retinol, a safe, gentle but very effective Vitamin A derivative helps to reduce existing lines. A botanical ingredient, Cistus Incanus, the ‘Plant of Beauty,’ helps to smooth wrinkles and Wild Indigo Extract acts to calm skin and reduce signs of stress from air pollution. Purified Algae Extract helps to improve the skin’s radiance and luminosity, while the multi-benefit, Tri-Peptide Complex and Amino Acid derivative, help to relax expression lines and smooth deep wrinkles to provide an immediate and long-lasting effect. Pour several drops in palms of hands and gently pat into face and neck. Use daily after cleansing.

OK I have to admit that my skin doesn’t have that many problems that demands a “time retreat”. I think it is a nice essence. The smell doesn’t bother me, and the texture feels good on my skin. It is absorbed quickly, and I like using this when I nap. But it’s lacking the WOW factor, cause I don’t really see anything that make this essence stand out from other essences. I still prefer Japanese brand essences better. So yea now I wasn’t surprised why it was on sale.

Lsstly is the Eve Lom Brightening Lotion

Scented with ROSE OTTO OIL, with a luxurious fluid milk texture, skin is conditioned and clarified, revealing a more radiant and even toned complexion.

Again, this lotion is nice but there was no WOW factor. I didn’t see a significant change in my skin (although my skin is already quite bright and doesn’t really require a brightening lotion).
