Huxley Secret of Sahara Skincare Review Part 1: Essence Grab Water, Essence Like Oil Like, Brightly Ever After, Oil Light and More
Hello everyone today I’m going to introduce you to a Korean Skincare brand called Huxley. I’m not sure how mass this brand is, but I find it to be niche and a very precious find when I went to Korea. I’m sure they are now available outside of Korea (like in Thailand for example). But I’m sure that if you are interested in this brand there are sites that ship this brand internationally.
So what is Huxley? Well I can describe it to you or you can just read their statement below:
Vision - Huxley is building a contemporary beauty brand that provides a compelling story and skincare solutions based on high quality, unique ingredients that better address modern challenges to skin care.
Mission - Huxley offers premium beauty solutions with integrity to discerning consumers who value the quality and source of products applied to their skin amid a flood of beauty products.
Our First Journey : The Sahara Desert in Morocco
Determined to pursue skin care solutions corresponding to modern skin woes severely affected by a hectic, stressful city life, Huxley's adventure began in the barren Sahara Desert in search of unique and effective ingredients.
Key Ingredient : Prickly Pear Seed Oil
On our voyage we found the most effective skincare ingredient in this vast and endless desert in Northern Africa.
Berber women in the Sahara Desert use this oil as their own thousand-year-refined secret to staying beautiful despite a life lived in a rough and barren desert environment. Prickly pear seed oil is the beauty secret of the Moroccan royal family in the face of a harsh and inhospitable desert.
Huxley is the first Korean brand launched skincare products using Prickly pear seed oil from the Sahara Desert in Morocco.
Signature Scent
Huxley hopes our customers enjoy healing moments in their daily lives. Our signature scent was inspired by the exotic and greenery Moroccan gardens in the contrasts to the dry and harsh desert. It was created in the collaboration with 90-year-old Swiss fragrance company.
One thing that stands out for me from this brand is obviously the scent. For me this scent was unique to any brand I know of, and it gives a relaxing, small that made me picture of green plains (I later found a room diffuser with the same scent and immediately bought it).
I will divide my review into 5 parts, with this part starting with the serums, or what the brand calls "Essences”.
Below are links to the next parts:
First up is the Essence Grab Water
Brand’s description: A water gel essence infused with moisture-binding Prickly Pear Seed
Oil and Cactus Extract. This signature essence soothes and instantly hydrates skin while leaving it feeling soft and refreshed.
01 Gel-water essence that locks in moisture all day
02 Prickly pear cactus oil hydrates and protects skin
03 Peppermint extract cools and calms skins
How to use
Apply a few drops onto face and gently tap until absorbed. Apply every morning and night or when the skin feel dry.
I love using this essence in the morning before I put my makeup on. The scent wakes me up nicely, and the watery gel is absorbed into my skin very fast, so it’s great for hurried mornings. My skin feels hydrated and refreshed. I am now nearly out of my my first bottle. That’s how much I love it.
Next is the Essence Like Oil Like
Brand’s description: A lightweight, optimized blend of oil and essence that energizes and revitalizes the skin. Formulated with Prickly Pear Seed Oil and Cactus Extract, this oil essence provides lasting hydration and nourishment.
01 Unique oil - essence hybrid blend rich in antioxidant
02 Applies smoothly with fast absorption like an essence
03 Rich hydration and nourishment from oil ingredient
How to use
Apply a few drops of oil essence onto face and gently tap until absorbed. Apply every morning and night or when the skin feels dry.
I think this is a very unusual essence. It’s not technically 100% gel, not 100% oil, it’s somewhere in between that I would like to describe as a “serum”". Not very helpful right haha. Well to me it does not feel like an oil at all, but it’s slightly more slippery than the Essence Grab Water. It’s a great hybrid for people like me who doesn’t like putting on face oils (even though I know its good for me). It’s a comfortable way to put oil on your face without feeling greasy. The serum is absorbed pretty fast too. I’m very impressed.
Next is Essence Brightly Ever After
Brand’s description: A highly concentrated brightening essence with ingredients that protect skin from polluted environments and stress. It delivers a refined, bright, and radiant look.
01 Brightens skin and evens skin tone
02 Leaves skin luminous and clear
03 Protects skin from environmental pollutants
How to use
Apply a few drops onto the face and gently tap until absorbed. Apply every morning and night or when the skin feels dry.
Now I would describe this Essence as being milky. It’s got the same Huxley iconic scent, feels like a face milk, and feels more moisturizing than the first two essences. It’s a really nice essence but I prefer the first two, just because they’re super brilliant, nothing against this one.
Now I also received a mini set of all 4 Essences as a gift with Purchase, and that’s how I got to try the last Essence, the oil Light and More. It’s the one on the right in the set.
Lastly is the Oil, Light and More
Brand’s description: A lightweight facial oil providing superior hydration enhanced with Prickly Pear Seed Oil. Quickly absorbed, this facial oil protects and fortifies the skin from daily stress.
01 Antioxidant-rich, energizes and revitalizes
02 Nourishes skin to reduce fine lines
03 Protects skin from environmental pollutants
How to use
Apply a few drops onto face and gently tap until absorbed. Apply every morning and night or when the skin feels dry.
Now this is pure oil, no essence whatsoever. Prickly Pear Oil has lots of benefits, and the signature Scent make this something out of a facial spa. Too bad I am not a fan of face oils, but if you like face oils you should try it!.
