Mac Collector of the Stars set review and swatches
Hey everyone, this post is long overdue but at least it’s still in time for Christmas. This is the Mac Collector of the Stars Kit.
This set includes 20 full sized lippies ( 4 Lipglass, 6 Liquid matte, and 10 iconic lipstick shades). It’s a great set for collectors, and new comers to Mac . But if you’re already regular customers, you will find duplicates in this set.
Of the 10 lipsticks, I DONT own just 2 shades and I already own Nymphette lipglass. So like I said, it’s for collectors and packaging freaks like me. Or just someone completely new to Mac. Check out more unboxing videos in my IG stories @survivorpeach
Here’s the brand’s description:
“a kit of 20 leading shades of lip colour – including lipstick, lipglass, retro matte liquid lipcolour and retro matte liquid lipcolour metallics.
20 leading shades of lip colour – including 10 glittery-packaged Lipsticks, four Lipglasses, three Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours and three Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallics. Wrapped in a special-feature glittery rose gold box for full-on cinematic impact.”
OK Let me start off with the 4 Lipglass shades: Oh Baby, Dreamy, Nymphette, and C-Thru.
Lipglass: Oh Baby (Golden bronze with sparkling glitter)
Lipglass: Dreamy (Gold-glittered pink)
Lipglass: Nymphette (Sunny golden pink)
Lipglass: C-Thru (Peachy beige with shimmer)
Of all the 4 glosses, I only own one which is Nymphette. Which was my first ever Mac Lipglass. It has long expired and so I”m thrilled to add it back into my collection.
I feel like MAC lipglass are somewhat different to other brand’s lipglosses in that they have this mirror like shine in them that other brands can’t seem to duplicate. That being said, they are also much more sticky. So if you are looking for a comfortable wear lipgloss, then don’t go for Lipglass. But if you want high shine, dazzling lips, then GO for Lipglass!
From the swatches, you can’t really see the high shine. Too bad. From top: C Thru, Nymphette, Dreamy, Oh Baby
Next are the Retro matte Liquid Lip Color.
I already own just one shade, Back in Vouge, so I was OK owning another (I can just give it as a Christmas gift no problem)
These are Mac’s version of a liquid lipstick. There are both matte and metallic finishes.
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: Fashion Legacy (Intense fire truck red)
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: Back In Vogue (Peachy nude)
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: High Drama (Deep dark plum)
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic: Love Weapon (Deep blue-red)
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic: Gemz & Roses (Bronze rose)
Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic: Metallic Rose (Rose gold)
I will divide these into groups of 3. First are the lighter shades, Back in Vouge, Gems & Roses, Metallic Rose.
Below are swatches indoors and in sunlight, and closeups of each shade.
And now we’re done with the first row of this kit! PHEW
Now there is also a whole set of 10 bullet lipsticks as well, all consisting of classic shades. I think you can find swatches of these anywhere (they’re all ovrerthe internet), so I wont post them. But you can enjoy the photos below. :)
