Dior Backstage: Face & Body Primer, Illuminator, GLow Face Palette, Custom EYe Palette
Hey peeps this post will be a LONG one, all about my recent Dior backstage purchases. I’ve been hearing a lot about the Backstage product releases and I’ve done swatches of them at Sephora (links to the swatches are below), but I have never purchases one until ow. And BAM, they released their liquid highlighter and I knew I just had to have it. I’ve always loved their Dior Glow Mazimizer and I felt like this could be a good substitute for that.
I also love the Neutral eyeshadow palette and their latest highlighter palette, so I bought them all during the sale. Yay!
First up is the Face and Body Glow: Universal multi-use highlighter - natural glow - waterproof & sweat-resistant.
Dior has created its first professional makeup line: a collection of makeup artist essentials inspired by the energy backstage at the runway shows. Shades to suit all skin tones in versatile, buildable textures.
Face & Body liquid highlighter is the Dior makeup artists' secret weapon for a subtly luminous complexion and makeup looks from natural to bold.
UNIVERSAL CUSTOM GLOW BOOSTER
Concentrated in fine, pearlescent pigments, Face & Body Glow subtly illuminates the complexion for an immediate radiance boost, blurring small imperfections with no glittery effect and diffusing light.
Its light, non-greasy texture offers a buildable glow from natural to luminous, and can be applied both on the face and body.
I think the description basically says it all so there’s no need for me to elaborate much.
Honestly, first I thought this was a liquid highlighter, but not quite. It has a very watery consistency which is ideal for putting onto my body. The shimmers are very very fine (no chunks at all), and it’s a warm rosy champagne shade that will suit anyone. I think this is perfect for mixing with foundation and for slapping it on your body for the beach! It dries down quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue (like some shimmering body oils). It also reminds me of their old Dior Glow Maximizer(which I pray they will bring back), but with a more watery feel. I think this is a great substitute for that.
Next is the Face and Body Primer,
Honestly I thought this was so-so, a primer that works as claimed, but nothing wow-ing. Good but not great.
Here’s the brand’s description: “Dior has created its first professional makeup line, a collection of makeup artist essentials, inspired by the energy backstage at the runway shows. Shades to suit all skin tones in exclusive* and buildable textures.
The Face & Body Primer is the Dior makeup artists' secret weapon for creating an instantly flawless complexion: imperfections are blurred, the complexion looks brighter, plumper and more even. Foundation hold is improved.”
Now the nest two items are WOW-ing. DIOR BACKSTAGE - CUSTOM EYE PALETTE
“Eyeshadow palette - high-pigment - customizable & multi-finish - primer, shadows, shimmer topper, shadow-to-liner gel”
Dior has released another backstage eyeshadow palettes before this one, but none of them has caught my eye yet - until this one. (for swatches of other Dior backstage eyeshadow palettes, click the links below)
I knew from the looks of it online that I was gonna love this one so I ordered this online.
The Dior Backstage Custom Eye Palette contains:
- An eyeshadow primer
- A shadow-to-eyeliner transforming gel
- A metallic gold eyeshadow topper
- Five shimmer eyeshadows
- A high-pigment matte eyeshadow
Four dazzling shades - cool silver, taupe, warm bronze and chocolate - are complemented by a matte black, a glowy white highlighter and a glittery gold eyeshadow topper.
In the two remaining pans, two essentials for an even more personalized eye look: a professional primer for better eyeshadow adherence and higher color pay-off, and a gel that transforms eyeshadow into eyeliner.
And believe it or not, this is my first ever Dior eyeshadow palette! I know its hard to believe right? So weird.
I love that it’s really versatile, with matte and shimmer and glitters and it even included two primer pans (but they won’t last long). The pattern on the shadows are so luxurious and it broke my heart to swatch them. I think the shades are extremely easy to use and the case is slim and light enough to bring on holidays. I”m really looking to using this palette on my upcoming trips.
I like the cream colored primer, I think it’s a great base and is very east to use, even with fingers.
However, the clear colored pan does nothing for me whatsoever. It’s supposed to change the shadows into a liner, but I haven’t been successful on doing that just yet. I also don’t plan to use the shadows as liners either (I use a real liner for lining duh). So I’m gonna skip this part.
And lastly, the Glow Face Palette 002 Glitz
“Professional performance - pure shimmer, blendable - highlight & blush
Dior has created its first professional makeup line, a collection of makeup artist essentials, inspired by the energy backstage at the runway shows. Shades to suit all skin tones in exclusive* and buildable textures.
The Glow Face Palette is the Dior makeup artists' secret for adding instant radiance to any look, from a natural healthy glow to an intense luminosity.
This new harmony of four original shades suits every style and skin tone: a delicately shimmering peach, a bronze with holographic accents, a gold and a pearly white with maxi glitter.”
All the shades are very wearable and I love the pearly shimmer glow it gives. I don’t think my photso does this palette justice at all. I absolutely love this palette!
And just like the Backstage eyeshadow palette, this highlight palette is also slim and light enough for travelling as well. The packaging is made from plastic, but it doesn’t feel flimsy at all. Rather, it looks pretty strong than other plastic palette I’ve seen.
And the swatches! They really are special.
