Fenty Beauty Haul - Reviews and Swatches!
I know it’s been a long time since I last posted, been super busy with work.
But today I got my Fenty Beauty haul to show you. Couldn’t miss out on that!
I picked up several items, but left out the Gloss Bomb, Trophy Wife, Metal Moon, Shimmer Matchstixs, and the blotting paper.
I tried the Gloss Bomb in store and wasn’t so impressed, it was just another gloss and nothing unique about it. OK it’s a nice gloss but I don’t currently need another one just yet. Pass.
Trophy Wife is a golden highlighter, as in GOLD. Not bronzey nor rose gold, just plain gold. This is way too much for pale to light skin, but it looks great on Rihanna.
Metal Moon is a silvery highlighter with multicolored shimmer. I’m more into rose gold/champagne hued highlighters so this was also a pass.
For the blotting paper, I can buy those in my local drugstore, super pass.
Below are Swatches for the Trophy Wife and Metal Moon highlighters. They’re the top two shades.
I also have the swatches for the Shimmer Matchsticks
From top:
Starstruck, Sinamon, Rum, Blonde, YatchLife, Trippin.
Second photo: Riding, Chili Mango, Confettti, Unicorn.
My favourite of all the shimmer Matchstixs are Trippin and Confetti. I think Confetti would work great for a party look, and Trippin for some hot summer festival.
Gloss Bomb, a shimmery caramel gloss with a sweet scent.
Here’s what I did pick up.
The Foundation, the Primer, 3 highlighter duos, a Matchstix Trio, the Invisimatte blotting powder, and the Portable Touchup brush. Individual reviews and swatches below.
First up is my favourite of all the items, the Pro Filter Instant Retouch Primer. ITS AMAZING
I don’t know what you’ll think, but its perfect for me. I live in a tropical climate and I have an oily T zone. I’ve tried some matte primers, but they don’t work so well. This one is great! After applpying it leaves my face as a matte canvas. But not too matte (like Illamasqua matte veil) Rihanna’s is matte enough to make me feel like my face isn’t oily, but still easy enough to spread foundation. (I’ve had issues with spreading foundation over matte primers).
Colorwise, I noticed it did nothing to brighten up my face or blur imperfections, but I’m fine with that cause that’s what foundation is for.
Definitely a must buy for people living in a humid climate. Not sure about those in dry places, anyone care to share their opinion?
I picked up shade 120 from the foundation range. The formula itself is decent. It’s matte enough to be called a matte foundation (but I own more matte stuff). I love the matte finish and the coverage it provides. There are 40 shades, with lots of range in the medium to deep tones. I think it’s great that the brand focuses on all skintones, as I’ve known many medium/dark peeps to have problems finding a foundation that matches them.
Overall, no complaints. It’s not a Holishit must buy, but it’s worth your money.
Here are the drop and blended swatches for the Fair toned foundation shades.
From top: 100,110,120,130,140.
Second up is the Match Stix Trio in shade Light.
This includes shades in Linen, Amber (for contour), and Starstruck (for highlighting).
Personally I wouldn’t use the Mattestix as an allover stick foundation, since the formula isn’t designed for that. It wouldn’t be so easy to spread. Instead I would use it to touch up on imperfections or as a contour highlight.
Below are swatches of the shades I did at Sephora.

1. porcelain cool
2. Ivory warm
3. Linen cool
4. French vanilla warm
5. Bamboo neutral
6. Peach cool Peach
The next shades will be in the next photo.

I think one of the stars of the @fentybeauty launch was the Invisimatte blotting powder, can you believe it? I didn’t either. I totally passed on it when I saw the release online cause it looked like some cheap pressed powder.
However, when I got to the store, the BA recommended it to me and I instantly fell in love. It’s a pressed translucent powder for touching up during the day. Leaves no cakey-ness, and does not change the color of your foundation. I really need this cause I live in a very humid place and touchups are super necessary.
I also picked up the portable Touchup Brush 130 which has a magnetic side that attaches to the powder compact. Perfect duo for keeping in your purse.
Lastly, I have changed my mind about the highlighter duos. At first I said these highlighters weren’t that good, but upon application, they look much better than when I swatched them on my arm.
I think this is because when I first tested it out in store, it didn’t really show up on my arm because it was so subtle. I bought it anyways, cause I’m a shopaholic. Then I spend the next day posting about how mediocre it was.
But today I wore Lightning Dust/ Fire Crystal on my face and just realized its actually pretty in a very subtle way (the left shade). I think it would be good for those looking for a barely there glow, not glowing in your face.
I still prefer the obvious glow highlighters like Becca and Jouer, but I take back what I said about Rihanna’s. It’s actually worth trying it on your face before making a decision.
I also got the Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak highlighter. I think this is the prettiest of all three, and definitely the most unique. I love the rose hue and the subtle sheen.
Finally, Mean Money/Hustla Baby Killawatt highlighter duo. Scroll down for swatches.

That's it everyone, I hope this post helps you decide on what to get!
