Sol body glow oil & shimmering dry oil Review and Swatches
Hello everyone if you have been following me on instagram, you will know how much I am obsessed with body oils and body shimmers! My collection keeps growing and my reviews are scattered all over the place! Below you can find reviews on some items that I have already posted. But this blog is all about Sol Body! (Colourpop).
Sol Body is owned by Colourpop, but focused on body products instead. Therefore they are priced at the same level as Colourpop (very affordable) and they also ship international. I ordered these directly from their website.
First up is the sol glow oil
Brand’s description: a rich, body oil that gives skin a hint of color and a touch of glow. light-diffusing micro pearl creates a subtle luminosity for healthy looking skin. infused with coconut, argan, and marula oils and a tropical coconut aroma for soft, moisturized skin.
shake well. massage into skin using finger tips or buff into skin using brush. apply liberally to highlight your highlight.
This is a pretty blinding body oil (when compared to my other body oils). From one squeeze you can see how dense the shimmers are (other body oils feel like there are glitters mixed with oil), but this one feels like you are actually squeezing out a pearly paste.
It is easy to spread on my skin however. Like most oils, the shimmers will look less prominent once spread on skin, but this one result in a coated look. You can easily see that I am wearing body shimmer (in comparison to other body oils which will look more like a healthy glow). It lasted a VERY long time and I had to use soap to wash it all off (just water won’t do). It does not feel very tacky, or greasy.
I also got the shade Rose, which I think does look different on skin, so its OK to buy more than one shade. Rose has a darker tanned/warm tint but doesn’t lean pink (which is what I’d expect from a shade called rose but whatever). If you want a pink hued oil, I suggest ordering the shade Pink Chaทpagne.
Here you can see that it does look dark dense in the bottle, and once applied on my arm, I can actually see that its a different color on my skin. I think it’s a great bronzing shade for pale gals!
Now SOL also came out with a Kabuki body brush to be used with the oils.
Brand’s description: Highlight your best assets exactly where you want it. The softest, 100% vegan bristles buff the perfect amount of product into your skin to create the look you want.
In my opinion I prefer to use my hands. I felt like the brushes couldn’t spread the oil evenly on my skin at all. I will use this for something else.
Next are the sol shimmering dry oils. I got many shades of this oil unnecessarily because the colors were too cute. But honestly, you only need one or two.
Brand’s description: a luxe, lightweight dry oil with next level, multidimensional shimmer. infused with coconut, argan, and marula oils for a glistening, good-for-you glow. leaves skin drenched in an addictive, tropical coconut aroma.
shake well. massage into skin using finger tips or buff into skin using brush. apply liberally to highlight your highlight.
I felt like these shimmering dry oils have larger glitter flecks than the glow oils, but they are far less dense. The Glow oils have packed pearls but these are like glitters sitting in oil. Once applied, you don’t get a blinding glow, but it felt more like using a normal body oil with some extra glitters.
You can see from the swatches here that once applied and spread onto skin, the shades don’t differ at all. If you want to buy more than one shade, I suggest buying a light one and a significantly darker one. All light shades come out looking the same.
The Lilac shade is a cute addition to the line and of course I bought it because it was so darn cute. But performance wise, it’s just the same. I can’t even tell the difference.
So pretty once pumped out right?! Gone once blended lol.
Well these seem to be a best seller so the brand came out with tons of other shades. I succumbed to marketing and also ordered the Bottle Service Shimmering Dry Oil bundle (which had 5 new shades). They are pretty in my collection but again, they all look the same once applied.
