Urban Decay Hi Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipglosses review and swatches

I was so excited for 2018, since its the year of the glosses! Seriously its been awhile that people are madly hyping the liquid lipsticks, and I can’t wait for the gloss to return. I’ve been back to loving glosses since 2017, and I’m so over dry lips.

Now Urban Decay is also one of those bringing back the glosses trend with their new Hi FI Shine Ultra Cushion Lipglosses! I ended up picking up 7 shades (I’d love to get the PR package, but sadly not).

The reason I picked up so many is because

1. I love the packaging. If you’ve been reading my blogs or if you’ve been following my Instagram, then you’ll know that I’m a sucker for chic packaging. And UrbanDecay does not disappoint with this Sci-Fi looking tube!

2. I love the smell of these, they smell exactly like Mint Chocolate, which I am addicted to lol Other brands have made cooling lipglosses before, but this one has the most delicious mint chocolate smell to it.

However, if you’re not a fan of mint, you might want to try it out before buying.

And honestly, if I was a normal person that wasn’t obsessed with Mint, I prolly would have bought only 1-2 because the shades aren’t so pigmented. But when I say it's not pigmented, I mean that some shades will turn out not too differently because they're sheer, so you prolly won't need similar shades. Some of the cream shades are quite creamy, but its just that I've tried more pigmented stuff.

I have to say, the ultra shiny part is true to the claim. Also the immediate plumping effect is also due to the minty sensation.

So these glosses come in a variety of finishes, cream, sheer cream, Holographic, and Metallized. I only picked up the holographic and the cream shades. The holographic I use over other lipsticks on weekends, and I wear creams on weekdays.

First up, the Holos! These are not as holographic as I have seen from other brands (like Mac Grand Illusion lipsticks), but their shimmers are complex enough to pass as holographic.

Here’s Snapped (Holographic). This one is a plum with blue shift (more obvious than Candy Flip). This one can be worn alone for a holographic effect.

Here’s Candy Flip (Holographic). This one is a blue (but not so obvious). Its better being layered over other lipsticks for a holographic effect.

Here’s SPL (Holographic). This one is a pink sparkle (that’s not so obvious).

And then onto the creams! These are also not very pigmented compared to other brands, so if you like high shine lip lusters, these are for you.

Here’s Midnight Cowgirl (cream). This one is nude color with gold pearls. I think this is best used with heavy eye makeup, since it washes me out used alone on a normal day.

Here’s Beso (cream). This one is a cream plum, and looks great as a darkened MLBB. This is us Thai’s favourite shade, as it’s the first one to be sold out. Now that I've tried it, i totally understand why its a best seller. The shade compliments our natural lip color, bringing out the healthiness of our lips. Really, I think everyone will love this color.

Here’s Fuel (cream). This one is a warm nude cream that’s much more pigmented than Midnight Cowgirl. I’d say this has become a staple in my handbag since I can’t go wrong with this. Gives me a healthy feel to my lips.

Here’s Snitch (cream). This one is cream coral that gives my lips a health look. I've been using this quite often lately. When used lightly, it gives my lips a bit of tint, not bold enough to scare people in the office.
