Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette Swatches
So I made it my goal to swatch everything that’s available at Sephora so people who like to order stuff online (like me!) can know what they’re buying. I always have trouble judging the color when I want to order something online, and so I wanted to help those people out.
Brand’s description: Each Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is packed with a selection of nine highly pigmented mattes and striking shimmers, all with a smooth and blendable texture.
Available in several color themes, suitable for every occasion – the palettes are super compact and lightweight, making them a must-have for your handbag. The large mirror, conveniently-sized palette, and versatile shade collection allow you to create both classic and playful looks that are easy to apply on-the-go.
HUDA SAYS:
“These are really condensed eyeshadow palettes but you get SO much product. I am obsessed with the Warm Brown and Smokey Palette; they’re both full of the most gorgeous, buildable colors that take your look from day to night easily. The Mauve Obsessions Palette is the makeup essential that everyone needs to create everyday looks, with a sultry edge. The Electric palette features super bold colors that are still really wearable so you can create amazing, understated looks. The Coral Obsessions is inspired by my love of using reds, pinks and oranges for a really sophisticated, yet trendy feel. Gemstone has the most gorgeous shades to brighten your look, and is great for adding a pop of color to your lids. I really wanted to give people the option to have fun with as many colors as possible without having to invest in individual shades. It was all about giving colour junkies everything they need, in a compact, affordable way.”
HUDA’S TIPS:
* Blend the shadows seamlessly together, using darker shades in the crease, and lighter hues along the brow bone and inner corners of the eye.
* Using a smudge or liner brush, apply one of the darker shades along the top and bottom lash line.
* With your ring finger, or with fixing spray on an eyeshadow brush, apply the shimmer shade to the centre of your eyelid to amp up the glamour.
I own 2 palettes, the Smokey Obsessions and the Gemstones Obsessions palettes. You can see my review in the blog below:
So moving on to the palettes that I don’t own. I did all the swatches at Sephora, so I try to post swatches in different lighting so you can see how it looks.
Warm Brown has eight matte and one shimmer shade in earthy cocoa, orange, and blush tones.
Personally I didn’t like most of the matte shades much, but that middle shimmer shade is amazing.
Mauve has three shimmer and six matte shades in sweet rose and plum tones.
For the Mauve palette, I thought the shimmers are amazing as always, but the mattes are again, so so.
Emerald has six duo-chrome and three matte shades in glamorous olive, pine, and gold tones.
I like all the shades in this palette. The matte shades are pigmented and buttery, and the shimmer shades are beyond beautiful.
Sapphire has five duo-chrome and four matte shades in vivid aquamarine and other cool tones.
I liked the shade combination of this palette. Blue lovers should be thrilled to own this palette. I think the mattes are ok, the shimmers are great as always.
Amethyst has six duo-chrome and three matte shades in commanding mauve and violet tones.
I think the matte shades are quite poor, but the shimmers are great. Why do the shimmer shade always great but are weighed down by the terrible matte shades?
Ruby has five duo-chrome and four matte shades in striking scarlet and raspberry tones.
Again, so so matte shades saved by amazing shimmer shades.
Topaz has four duo-chrome and six matte shades in approachable earth and terra cotta tone
Grrrrr. The mattes are so grrrrr. But the shimmer shades are sooooo beautiful in this palette! Like, if you’re buying this palette, you’re paying for the shimmers.
That’s it, hope I wasn’t too rude in this post.
